The town of Little Compton is situated in Newport County in south-eastern Rhode Island, USA. Located between the Sakonnet River and the Massachusetts state boundary, it is spread over an area of 74.9 sq km.
Little Compton has a mild climate. The average summer temperature is 24°C, and in winter, the average temperature is 16°C.
Founded by Captain Benjamin Church, Little Compton was incorporated as a part of Plymouth County in 1682. Today, the town is a rural farming community of around 5,000 people, with fishing as a major industry.
The Sakonnet Vineyards is a local attraction, where visitors can watch and participate in the winemaking process. The town’s scenic coastline not only provides a spectacular view but is also home to variety of marine life.
