Bad Gastein, a spa resort in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, is situated in the state of Salzburg. Located in Austria, Bad Gastein’s thermal springs are considered to be of great therapeutic value. The city has a total population of around 5,600 inhabitants.
The city has an ideal climate, characterised by cold temperatures, abundant snowfall and a fog-free atmosphere.
The area is believed to have been inhabited by the Romans more than two thousand years ago. It was the thermal spring waters that brought the village out into the open. During the twentieth century, the area became a major European politics centre.
The inhabitants of Bad Gastein are firm followers of Paganism, which includes Krampus, a demonic character. Tourism is the main source of economy in the city.

The city is also home to a number of ski resorts that provide unlimited fun options with their steep slopes and extensive ski rinks. During summer, Bad Gastein provides plenty of hunting, fishing and trekking opportunities. The city is also home to a number of monuments and museums of great historical significance. Some of the popular ones are the Gasteiner Museum, Maria vom guten Rat Church, Hohe Tauern National Park and St. Nicholas Church. Also, make sure to visit the Gletschermuhlen Waterfall, which is one of the most popular sites in Austria. Bad Gastein is also host to several annual events and festivals, including the Harvest Festival and Snow Jazz Gastein.

When the snow is minimal in the other ski resorts in Europe, then Bad Gastein has surely got snow. I can recommend Bad Gastein as a top Ski resort-5 star.

Overall Guide : Very nice, friendly people, good food in hotels beautiful mountains and walleys, good paths to wander. Lot of blooming flowers there. Tasty cakes in cofeterias.
