Bayonne

Bayonne, in the south-western part of France, is located at the meeting point of two rivers, Nive and Adour. This flourishing commercial town is home to approximately 44,000 inhabitants. Bayonne, Anglet and Biarritz together form the BAB metropolis.
Bayonne has a very humid climate with rainfall spread across the year; spring is the rainiest season. The average temperature in winter is 10°C. In the peak of summer, the temperature rises as high as 27°C.
Bayonne started off as a military base for the Romans, but slowly it was established as an important trading port. Its location meant that it connected the Atlantic and the Meditteranean; this made it a bone of contention between France, England and Denmark.

Overall Guide : It's a nice place for vacations in the southwest of France, even for visiting North Spain, on the way to Santiago de Compostela.
