Cochem can be described as a town located in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It serves as capital of Cochem-Zell district.
Cochem lies in valley of Mosel, along the base of a hillock that is surrounded by feudal castle, called Reichsburg. One would find loads of vineyards around Cochem.
In the year 1688, ‘King Louis XIV’, belonging to France, had invaded region of Moselle and Rhine. At that time, he had also captured Cochem Castle. The area was fully occupied by his troops. On 19th of May, 1689, Cochem Castle was destroyed by them. They had set it ablaze. The town was also destroyed alongwith.
At the time of Second World War, operations staff with regards to Natzweiler concentration camp was situated over here. Around 13000 people had been imprisoned on this count. As such, slave labor was provided for Bosch; that went on to make war-significant plugs, glow plugs, and ignition systems under extremely brutal conditions.
