Trapani enjoys a pleasant climate all year round. In the peak of summer, the temperatures average at 30°C. Winters are very mild with the aggregate temperature 16°C. Maximum rainfall is during the winter season. More than 2000 years ago, Trapani served as an important naval base for its rulers. Today, it is one of the most rapidly developing cities in Sicily. Though fishing is the most important economic activity for its people, winemaking and coral export are also flourishing industries.
