The accommodation : I stayed at the Pennslyvania Hotel mid town, opposite Maddison Square Garden. Great location and the price was reasonable if you hunt deals on line (Hotels.com). The service was terrible, however. Be prepared to wait in a long cue for... more Check in. The reception desk didn't go out of their way to serve you immediately. Often they chatted amongst themselves. This just typified NY service in general. I have traveled the globe frequently and have to say that customer service in the US by far is the worst I have experienced. Sorry NY, you need to go back to school when it comes to polite and genuine customer service.
Not to be missed Broadway , Statue of Liberty , Central Park

The accommodation : Upon arrival at the airport, if you're not weighed down with heavy luggage, it's very easy to use public transport. If you want to take a van (there were 6 of us), although it's not as expensive as in Rome,... more you have to pay an outlay of $25 per head (at least). Getting a hotel near Times Square helps you to move around quite easily as it's close to many of the main points of interest.

The accommodation : It's better to spend a bit extra and stay in Times Square or the surrounding area. Everything is there, it's the beating heart of New York where you really feel that it's "the city that never sleeps." If you want... more to go out in the evening you find something to do at any time and you don't need to take public transport.
