Few words that best describe this place are film festivals, extravagant parties, celebration and a shockingly gorgeous city. The city is also boasts about its designer shops, fancy restaurants and mega hotels. It sure is a busy tourist place and hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival and Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. A waterfront avenue, La Croisette is filled with palm trees and is known for picturesque beaches, restaurants and boutiques. The oldest city, La Suquet offers a fine view of La Croisette. You must have heard about ‘The Man in the Iron Mask’, He was imprisoned here on the Île Sainte-Marguerite. There are many museums as well like the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Provence which showcases artifacts from the prehistoric to the present day. It occupies an 18th-century built mansion. Another museum to visit is the Musée de la Castre that has a display of items from the Pacific Atolls, Peruvian ruins and the very well-known Mayan pottery. A historical site is Iles de Lerins which has forests and islands. Visitors are drawn towards the magnificent beaches – Ste Marguerite and St. Honorat that have eucalyptus and pine tree forests. The Fort Royal is too situated here itself. Plenty of picnic tables are being set-up in good locations for the visitors to enjoy their time in the nature and go for swimming in the crystal clear water.
