The French Riviera is, no doubt, one of the most attractive and notorious coasts all over Europe and the nice Nice its own jet set!
Though summer is a nice period to enjoy a sojourn, it is better not to go to Nice in July or August to avoid hot weather, traffic jams and crowds of people on holiday! Better periods are spring and early autumn, though february is a favorite too: it is carnival time!

The many museums, beaches and facilities offer tourists a wide range of choices!
The old town with its many tiny streets, is truly lively and many are the restaurants all around where to enjoy a good meal!
The true local atmosphere is in Vieille Ville, the Old Town, at the foot of "the Rock" and which spreads out from Place Massena.
The front of the buildings seem to be, somehow, italian architectural evidences of 17th century.

Overall Guide : Among the museums to be visited are: The fantastic Museum of Fine Arts, an artwork in itself, showing some Monet’s, Renoir’s, Bonnard’s and many others; Musée Matisse a permanent collection of the artist which also include the notorious... more Blue Nude IV and Woman with Amphora. Monastère Notre Dame de Cimiez, where is Matisse’s tomb. The old town is really astonishing thanks to the extraordinary mish-mash of narrow winding streets, full of lively cafés and delicious restaurants, vibrant squares, Genoese, Provençal, medieval and baroque architecture all around. Deserve a visit some churches in the baroque style: St. Martin, St. Augustin, St. Francois de Paule, the pretty Chapelle de la Miséricorde. Palais Lascaris, a pure gem in the Genoese baroque architecture, houses an 18th-century apothecary and a museum of local history, too. The Cathédrale Orthodoxe Russe St-Nicolas is in a park north of the train station, open to visitors only if dressed appropriately, has been designed to resemble St. Basile in Moscow! There is something special for families, too, where to enjoy the panoramic views of the lively Nice! The Watery Oasis, is the ideal place for a lazy day escape or enjoy an open air concert!

Overall Guide : This city is very safe to explore, the locals are quite friendly. The beach is great and a world away from beaches in the US as it is topless and pebbled. It was a great trip and I will definitely... more be coming back. One note of frustration though is the occasional non-french speaker that may be your waiter, in which case it`s very difficult to order correctly; however this is a rarity. Overall I love the city and its people.

Overall Guide : It is a very nice, quiet place though it has a big population for a town/village. It is safe though it can be quite boring unless you are 18 or over so you could drink and go to a Cazino... more which is very entertaining. It is affordable if you want to move into a house there though it's all up to your budget.

Overall Guide : The Matisse and Chagall museums are beautiful and fascinating. There are other museums to visit, such as the Archaeological and Costume museums. You can also lose yourself in the town centre, it's really beautiful. I also recommend visiting the nearby... more Biot and Antibes and the Provencal market.
