Potsdam can be referred to as the capital of ‘German federal state of Bradenburg’. Moreover, it is a portion of ‘Metropolitan area’ of Bradenburg/Berlin. Potsdam stands on River Havel; at a distance of 25 Km on the south-western side of Berlin. Potsdam has a number of claims towards national as well as international notability. Till the year 1918, it was residence of ‘Prussian Kings’.

There seems to be a chain of exceptional cultural landscapes and interconnected lakes; palaces and parks of Sanssouci in particular. Sanssouci is the biggest ‘World Heritage Site’ across Germany.

Babelsberg (in Potsdam) is amongst the principal places of ‘European Film Production’. Soundtracks for foreign-based and domestic film productions are recorded at ‘Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg’.

The nineteenth century witnessed transformation of Potsdam in to a ‘center of science’. It is a home to 20 rivers and lakes altogether.

The climate is quite pleasant. Winter would prove to be the best period for visiting Potsdam.

Overall Guide : Potsdam Museum Potsdam Museum which was founded in the year 1940 has been dedicated to collection, interpretation, and preservation of decorative arts and local history. It’s a department of ‘Village of Potsdam’, with policy having governed by one... more of the independent boards of trustees. Potsdam Museum remains open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, between noon and 18:00. However, on Thursdays, it remains open till 20:00. No admission fees are charged. Babelsberg Park Babelsberg Park, the 3rd-largest park in Potsdam had been basically laid out in the year 1832 BY PJ Lenne and enlarged from the year 1843 by ‘Prince Puckler-Muskau’. This park has been characterized by a wide spectrum of landscapes: gentle slopes, hilly areas, shore of River Havel, and broad meadows. Several meandering footpaths and roads go on to offer the most gorgeous scenic views regarding ‘Havel Lakes’, Potsdam city, and its exceptional surroundings. As such, Babelsberg Park has proved to be the best tourist destination in the bygone years.

Overall Guide : It's a beautiful city full of history and well-preserved monuments. The people are kind and facilities are very efficient. The transport is very good and so I definitely recommend using it all, the metro, trains and buses. Be careful if... more you go there in winter, it's really cold.
