Canada Health and Safety
Canada, in general, poses no particular health threats to travellers. No special immunizations or vaccinations are required. While travelling with children, ensure they are up-to-date on routine childhood immunizations. Make sure to carry an adequate supply of insect repellent.
Canadian hospitals and other medical services provide an excellent standard of care. Medical care for travellers and visitors is charged at a daily rate basis. Charges vary by hospital and medical attention required, but often range between CAD$ 1,000–2,000 a day.
Round-the-clock pharmacies are easily available throughout Canada. It is always safe to carry along all prescribed medications. It is also good to bring along an extra pair of prescription, contact lenses or eye glasses. It is advisable to obtain travel health insurance before visiting Canada.
