Vietnam is home to numerous celebrations, events and festivals that are worth being a part of. However, it would always be better to avoid visiting the country during any of the important celebrations as most public places are over crowded.
The biggest celebration in Vietnam is that of the Lunar New Year known locally as ‘Tet’. It is celebrated in the month of February lasting around a week. It is marked with offering prayers and following a number of rituals. Wandering Souls Day (Trung Nguyen) which is celebrated in the month of August is celebrated with a similar enthusiasm.
Other important public holidays in the country are New Year’s Day (1 January), Liberation of Saigon (30 April) and National Day (2 September).
