Williamsburg is situated in the state of Virginia in USA. Located on the Virginia peninsula, the city covers an area of 22.5 sq km and has a population of around 12,000.
The city’s mild climate is conducive to outdoor activities throughout the year. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 31°C to 18°C.  Winters are cool with temperatures varying from –2°C to 9°C.
The Busch Gardens Theme Park and Water Country are popular family attractions. The world-famous golf courses at Kingsmill and water sports on the James and York rivers and the Chesapeake Bay are big draws.
The city is famous for Colonial Williamsburg, the country’s largest living history museum. This authentic recreation of nineteenth-century Williamsburg has the ability to take visitors back to the old era. Williamsburg is also home to the reputed College of William and Mary, the second oldest educational institution in the country.

It depicts the cultural history and heritage of the city that dates back to the 18th century. The First Capitol Building of Virginia is yet another historical site in the city. Brunton Parish Church is the oldest church in US that is still operating. The church is well restored in the colonial era style. The historic area in Williamsburg is spread across an area of nearly 173 acres. There are 88 original constructions and 50 reconstructed buildings. The Governor's Palace dates back to 1722. In 1781, this building served as a hospital for soldiers during the Yorktown Battle. The Courthouse was built in 1770. Like several other government buildings, even the Courthouse was used as a hospital during the war. Visitors can also see the Public Gaol in this city. It is a historical place where criminals waiting for their trials were kept.
