Valladolid is a small city and has its surrounding municipality in southeastern side of the Mexican State of Yucatan. The first Valladolid in Yucatan was established by the nephew of Spanish Conquistador, Francisco de Montejo. In 1545, Valladolid was relocated to its present location.
In 1840, the city had a population of 15,000. As of 2005 census, this city had a population of 45,868 inhabitants, with the municipality population of 68,863.
This municipality has total area of 945.22 square kilometers and includes other outlying communities like Kanxoc, Yalcoba, Xocen and Popola.
The climate here is hot and dry. There is also tropical rain with hot and predominate trade winds most time of the year. This is charged with humidity coming from the Gulf of Mexico. The temperature is between 15 and 28 degree Celsius. The south east side is the largest area of rain downfall in the city.
